Doodling can be poisonous to your artistic life

Thu Jul 16, 2009, 8:47 PM
How are you? I'm doing okay. The weather here in Hellhole, CA is going over 100 degrees.. (hence the name XD)

It's been such a long time since I seriously drew something. The closest thing I got to "drawing" for the past month was doodling on my note during lecture (don't try this, kids!!). Then today, I realized that it's not healthy!

Not only it distracts me from the actual class; doodling is not going to get me anywhere in terms of technical improvement. Sometimes I might get interesting idea of what to draw (layout or theme). But during "doodling", I don't try to fill the whole page, nor care about composition and anatomy.

I'm gonna try to do at least one (legit!) sketch a day. I've been telling myself I'm too busy to draw these days, but that's a lie. It takes me like.. 30 minute at most do finish one sketch. I'll probably uploading the daily sketches to :iconelliskp: and my sketch journal: [link]

To those of you who actually checks our sketch journal; cyber-slap me if you don't see me uploading daily sketches!!

Wish me luck =D

P.S - I tag you, Ellis.

2nd P.S - ...what kind of lipgloss is Lil Mama wearing in the music video?

  • Listening to: Lipgloss - Lil Mama

Hi again! I got a question.. how did you learn to draw so good? I'm an aspiring artist and always wondered how artists learn to draw awesome drawings and coloring them with ease, so I guess I'll ask you (and the other people I'll probably ask).

Thanks in advance!
:iconsukyan:
hahaha thanks for calling me an artist XD I first started off by copying other people's drawings =) I think that's a good way to start off, and then eventually you can develop your own style.

No problem! and thank you!

But I wonder how do you color your art? Physically and Digitally?
:iconsukyan:
i do it traditionally (watercolor or markers) because i'm not good at digital work... hahaha
